High in the Andes mountains, there’s a humble root vegetable that’s reputed to be the source of the legendary strength and endurance of the Inca people. Red Maca is a vegetable root or tuber, related to the potato family, which grows only in the high Andean plateaus of Peru.

Red Maca Root grows wild in many locations in South America, and it’s also being cultivated elsewhere. Red Maca’s medical miracles come only from the plants that grow at 13,000 to 15,000 feet in the steep central Peruvian Andes valleys.

Peruvian folklore suggests that maca, also known as 'Viagra of the Herbal Kingdom' is helpful for men with erectile dysfunction (ED), and animal studies in the laboratory have supported this. The evidence suggests that red maca’s contribution to sexual performance comes about by gently and gradually reversing the underlying circulatory problem. Studies show that oral supplementation with Red Maca Root repairs the biochemical cascade of events that makes penile arteries misbehave. The result is measurable improvement over time, without the health risks associated with prescription ED drugs.

Raw Red Maca Root has been shown to reduce prostate size significantly. This is undoubtedly due in part to its rich supply of plant sterols, including beta sitosterol—a powerful treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Red Maca Root has another well-known prostate shrinker, a group of compounds called glucosinolates—which also protect against prostate cancer while they’re at it. In the many hundreds of cruciferous species investigated, all are able to synthesize glucosinolates. But the absolute content of glucosinolates in fresh Raw Red Maca Root is relatively higher than reported in other cruciferous crops. The most abundant glucosinolates detected in Red Maca were the aromatic glucosinolates.

Pituitary glands are the main endocrine glands which send signals to other organs and glands. Red Maca Root ensures proper pituitary glands function. This helps in keep the body healthy and fit.

Many factors can affect libido, including hormone levels, stress, and mood. It’s no secret that human fertility has declined. This decline has been attributed to many factors including environmental pollutants and plastics that wreak havoc on the critical hormonal balance necessary for reproduction. For women research has shown that after 8 weeks of taking 1,500 mg of Red Maca Root a day reduced miscarriage rates and increase in fetal growth. Men enjoy an average 180% increase in their libido and average a 200% increase in semen volume as well as significantly increased sperm counts, increased sperm motility, and increased conception rates. All of these benefits occur, again, without any meddling with sex hormone levels. Instead, it appears that Red Maca Root activates an anabolic gene pathway known as IGF (insulin-like growth factor), which is a critical determinant of fertility and fetal development, and which is known to decline with age.

Due to decreases in estrogen levels, postmenopausal women are at risk for osteoporosis. Red Maca Root has been tested on rats and found to have notable effects on bone structure and the formation of new bone as reported in Research in Complementary Medicine. Although the estrogen pathway was the route taken to help strengthen bone, there was no increase in uterine size, which is usually the case when estrogens are increased. Researchers involved in this study were unable to determine by which mechanism Red Maca Root utilized the estrogen pathway.

The agonizing pain of monthly menstrual cycle, is something, that women can never get used to. Red Maca Root is a natural remedy for menstrual cramps. Red Maca Root provides great relief from the common symptoms of monthly menstrual cycle, like, nausea, fatigue, headache, backache and the painful cramping.

A recent study using human cartilage found that Red Maca Root almost triples cartilage's anabolic activity, even if there's current inflammation. When combined with the anti-inflammatory action of another Peruvian herb, cat's claw, the anabolic stimulation in the cartilage almost quadruples.

Organic Raw Maca Root contains, calcium, fatty acids and vitamins B1, B2, B12 and phosphorus. It also contains a variety of minerals and alkaloid. All these put together, give the body required share of nutrients. Raw Organic Red Maca Root can be used every day cooking, like a regular spice, to obtain maximum benefits.
