To date there are a large amount of long term studies either underway or completed that have given us a great understanding of what exactly this amazing substance does. These studies have identified 12 mechanisms of action on how resveratrol supports a healthy aging process. The 12 mechanisms are modulation of oxidation, suppression of inflammation, mitochondrial protection, suppression of fat cell formation, modulation of cell proliferation, inhibition of metastasis, modulation of angiogenesis, modulation of dna damage, modulation of foreign molecules, modulation of glutamate, antiestrogen activity, stimulation of bone formation.

Currently, some of the more exciting news is the potential that resveratrol possibly has to express the same genes found to be expressed in mice that were fed a calorie restriction diet. Calorie restriction is the number one concept that has been studied in the field of anti-aging medicine. When applying this way of eating, research on mice has shown to release the gene SIRT1 that may possibly slow the aging process down. The possible effects of this gene expression ranges from supporting cardiovascular, neurological, endocrine to immune system health. The exciting part, is that research has also shown that mice who were fed a high calorie diet or standard american diet and were also supplemented with resveratrol, had a very similar effect to the gene expression occur. Some of the effects in the study were increased insulin sensitivity, lower blood sugar, supported mitochondrial energy production, improved motor production.

The other area that resveratrol has impressive results in, is nourishing the cardiovascular system. It had been concluded that this food had the ability to support healthy inflammation, blood pressure and lipid levels as well as support healthy blood flow to the heart.

Some possible traditional uses of Natural Resveratrol Extract Powder may include:

  • May modulate antioxidant levels
  • May support a healthy inflammation response
  • May support mitochondrial health
  • May modulate programmed cell death
  • May modulate blood vessel formation
  • May modulate glutamate (a neurotransmitter)
  • May support cardiovascular and neurological health
  • May support healthy blood sugar and blood pressure levels

The HPLC solvent system used coupled with fluorescence detection allowed separation of ellagic acid from resveratrol and detection of resveratrol." "[T]rans-resveratrol had the lowest concentrations of the detected phenolics, ranging from not detected in two varieties to 0.2 mg/ 100 g of FW (Tables 1 and 2). Our result for resveratrol differed from previous results [Ector et al., 1996] indicating high concentrations. These researchers apparently were not able to separate ellagic acid from resveratrol with UV detection alone."
