Lymph CleansingGreen icon showing clean lymph system

In Western medicine, the lymphatic system is a complex network comprising lymph nodes, vessels, and organs like bone marrow, spleen, and thymus. Its principal functions involve producing and transporting white blood cells, regulating bodily fluids, and facilitating the removal of waste and toxins (Rockson, 2001, Journal of the American Medical Association). The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in immunological defense and maintaining homeostasis (Mebius & Kraal, 2005, Nature Reviews Immunology). Conversely, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) refers to the analogous structure as the San Jiao or triple warmer, emphasizing its role in maintaining balance and facilitating the passage of fluids, food essence, and waste (Xu et al., 2013, Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine). The San Jiao also serves the vital function of transmitting Qi, heat, and fluids throughout the body, and its efficacy relies on maintaining a balanced and unobstructed flow of these elements (Liang & Wu, 2018, Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine).
