With just four ingredients, the superstar featured in this amazing ‘chocolate sauce recipe’ is extra rich cacao powder.  This delicious recipe is easy-to-make, low-fat, low-glycemic, and is a dark, rich chocolate sauce (It is also a great Prebiotic).

Z Natural Foods’ Raw Cacao Chocolate Sauce


  1. 4 tbsp of raw, untreated organic cacao powder - sifted
  2. 1 tbsp plus 2 tsp of Honey
  3. 2 tbsp of water
  4. 2 tsp of vanilla extract


  • This is a strong, deep, dark chocolate sauce.
  • Put all the ingredients into a heat proof bowl that fits perfectly on top of a saucepan with simmering water as for a bain-marie or double boiler and whisk together vigorously.
  • Whisk all the ingredients on top of the simmering water approximately 3 minutes to make it silky.
  • This is the closest I can get to making it delicious and still packing the nutritional punch.
  • Even though this recipe is sweet and creamy, you get a high-quality nourishing dose of cacao with no interruptions.

How to Enjoy:

  • Pour on top of anything!
  • Make a big batch and store it in a glass container in a cool dry place for 1 week or in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
  • If it solidifies, just place the the container in a bain-marie and whisk as it melts, remove immediately from heat once completely liquid.

It is my sincere belief that the average chocolate bar should be avoided due to it’s high sugar content, dairy and high-temperature processing of the cacao beans. This Raw Cacao Chocolate Sauce will delightfully fill chocolate cravings and provide more quality nutrition than almost any other standard American snack or dessert.

Since our cacao is raw and low-temperature processed unlike traditional, European cacao powders, this chocolate sauce recipe offers a naturally, well-balanced flavor and fruitiness.

Typically, the chocolate flavor of cacao beans is developed through fermenting and roasting which destroys the nutrition of traditional cacao -- we do not do this at Z Natural Foods. 

Our goal is to preserve the nutrition by ensuring proper handling of the raw cacao beans unlike most companies that provide high temperature processed cacao. We have a progressive supplier who has pioneered a low temp process for cacao which meets with the International Raw Standards.  This well thought out process keeps the polyphenol nutritional power in tact.
