Being the ‘health-nut’ I am, I’m always looking to sneak in veggies in all my meals and I realized the superbowl is just around the corner!
I was wondering how I could make something healthy, delicious and conveniently quick for a superbowl party… And then it occured to me… A Beet Root Hummus? Why not!
I had some Z Natural Foods Organic Beet Root Powder and it turned out way better than I ever imagined. The hummus itself has some grainy texture. The savouriness and the color can be adjusted by adding fresh lime juice and beet root powder as desired.
The kids absolutely loved it, telling me how it's more colorful and more delicious than just regular old hummus haha!
Here’s how I made a healthy superbowl dip/hummus you and your kids can enjoy with some chips and veggies.
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup of Organic Sesame Seeds (Roasted)
- 1 Can of Chickpeas (Wash with water)
- 2 Tbsp of Organic Beet Root Powder
- 1 Tbsp of Organic Lemon Juice Powder
- 1 Tsp of Organic Garlic Powder
- 1 Tsp Himalayan Salt to taste
- 3 Tbsp of Water
- Organic Olive Oil
Directions:
Making Tahini: In a food processor bowl, put roasted sesame seeds and process it to a crumbly paste (1 minute). Add 2-3 Tbsp of olive oil and then begin to process it into a smooth paste (2-3 minutes)
Making Hummus: In a small bowl, add the organic beet root powder, lemon juice powder and water, mix well into a paste.
In a food processor bowl, add chickpeas, ¼ cup of Tahini, beetroot/lemon paste, garlic powder, salt and olive oil, process until smooth. (Water can be added if it is a little too dry)
Transfer it onto a serving bowl, swirl a little olive oil over the top and sprinkle with garnishes (i.e. sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds).
Ready to serve with crackers, pita breads or raw vegetables of your choices.
